The Old Cemetery at the city wall A gem in the old town of Füssen

Attractions

Situated between the city wall and the historic monastery grounds is the romantic St. Sebastian cemetery with the late medieval former plague chapel.

In the wall there are still epitaphs (which unfortunately are no longer legible for the most part). Next to the entrance Klosterstraße is the tomb of Domenico Quaglio, the architect of the royal castle Hohenschwangau. You like to walk past this historic place in Füssen without noticing it. Those who have more time for a stay should visit this resting place. It is a place of contemporary history that radiates tranquillity and radiates a special aura through its park-like character within the monastery walls. Here one encounters transience, but at the same time one becomes aware of the changes in the cemetery culture of recent years.
